In a recent military operation in the West Bank town of Aqaba, north of Tubas, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man and injured several others, according to a statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Health released on Friday.
The ministry stated that 36-year-old Abdul Rahim Fayez Ghanam was shot dead by live ammunition to the head. Other young Palestinians were injured by live and rubber-coated steel bullets, as reported by the Palestinian News and Information Agency, Wafa.
Palestinian medical sources disclosed that two young men sustained gunshot wounds to the head. One is in critical condition, while the other is in moderate to severe condition. Additionally, other individuals were hit with rubber-coated steel bullets, one in the abdomen and another in the head. Both are said to be in stable condition after Israeli forces fired live and rubber bullets indiscriminately.
Israeli forces also invaded the vicinity of Tubas Turkish Government Hospital and heavily deployed in the area, as per Wafa. The forces hindered the work of ambulance crews in the region, initially preventing them from transferring the wounded. An ambulance was also directly hit by Israeli gunfire.
Furthermore, Israeli forces detained three Palestinians from the town, identified by Kamal Bani Odeh, the director of Tubas Palestinian Prisoners Club, as Abdul Razzaq Qasim Mohammed Abu Arra (51), his son Bakr Abdul Razzaq Abu Arra (30), and Mohammed Walid Ahmed Abu Arra (40).
Israeli troops earlier in the day stormed the town of Aqaba, cornered a young man inside a house for several hours in an attempt to coerce him into surrendering, and later fired at and destroyed the house. The forces eventually withdrew from the town without arresting the individual, according to Wafa.
This incident adds to the growing tension between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the occupied territories and raises significant questions about the use of force. Stay tuned for more updates on this ongoing situation.
