Syrian state television reported on Friday that authorities in the As-Suwayda province have eliminated a terrorist cell affiliated with the ISIS organization that attempted to carry out a terrorist operation against civilians in one of the neighborhoods of As-Suwayda city.”
The Syrian television further noted that a terrorist who attempted to detonate himself with an explosive belt he was wearing was killed, and another terrorist was apprehended with another explosive belt.
Additionally, the Syrian television reported that a number of automatic rifles and ammunition were seized from their possession.
As-Suwayda is a city located in southwestern Syria, known for its Druze-majority population.
It has historically been considered a relatively safe area compared to other parts of Syria during the ongoing conflict.
However, sporadic incidents involving terrorist groups like ISIS have occurred in the region, prompting security operations by Syrian authorities to maintain stability and protect civilians.
