In a significant military engagement, Southern Yemeni forces clashed with Houthi militias at the Al-Hud Yaf’e front in Lahij province, resulting in the death of at least 15 Houthi fighters and injuries to others.
According to a statement received by “Al-Ein News,” the Southern forces confirmed they “repelled a dawn attack today, launched by Houthi terrorist militias at the border front of Yaf’e.” The statement elaborated that the Houthi assault aimed to seize control over strategic positions at the Yaf’e front but was effectively thwarted by Southern forces.
The clashes resulted in the killing of more than 15 Houthi militants and the wounding of several others, the statement added.
In a related context, Houthi militias launched heavy artillery attacks on populated villages in eastern Sabr Al-Mawadem district, east of Taiz city, in southern Yemen. A military source told “Al-Ein News” that the Houthi forces positioned on Mount Al-Ar launched intense shelling on the village of Al-Sarmin in the Sabr Al-Mawadem district.
According to the source, Houthi militias used mortar shells that are prohibited in residential areas, as well as machine guns, causing significant material damage to civilian properties. The attacks “caused a state of fear and panic among children, women, and the elderly, in a clear violation of the ceasefire,” said the source.
Observers note that Houthi militias have recently escalated their land, artillery, and drone attacks against civilian targets and battlefronts in Yemen, effectively reverting the situation back to square one and raising the risk of reigniting the war.
