The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced on Saturday that 513 children have been killed and 1,167 others injured since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
The office said in a statement that as of Saturday, more than 1,680 children in Ukraine have been affected by the Russian military operation. Most of the cases of children killed or injured were in Donetsk region with 497 cases, followed by Kharkiv with 304 cases, Kyiv with 129 cases, and Kherson with 141 cases.
The office noted that these numbers are not final, as work is underway to verify data from areas of conflict and territories controlled by Russia.
For its part, the Kherson Regional Military Administration announced on Saturday that four people were injured as a result of Russian forces shelling the region 108 times in the past 24 hours.
Kherson Regional Military Administration Head Oleksandr Prokudin said that Russia shelled Kherson with 536 shells, injuring four people. He explained that Russian forces used tanks, multiple launch rocket systems, fighters, and drones to shell the region. Prokudin said that the Russian army targeted residential areas in Kherson.
