A helicopter carrying police officers met with an accident in southern Turkey, resulting in the deaths of two officers and injuries to another, according to a statement made by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on the social media platform X, as reported by Reuters.
The aircraft had departed from Hatay airport, heading towards Gaziantep airport, when it lost communication at 10:29 p.m. local time (1949 GMT).
The crash site was identified near the Kartal village in the Nurdagi district of Gaziantep, although the reasons behind the crash were not disclosed by Yerlikaya.
Earlier this month, a military helicopter could be seen flying just above traffic on a motorway in Turkey as it made an emergency landing.
Turkey’s defense ministry pointed out that no one was injured in the incident, and that the plane had to land due to a technical problem.

The helicopter, carrying a group of skiing enthusiasts, crashed last month near Terrace, a town with about 12,000 residents in the Skeena region of central western British Columbia, close to the U.S. state of Alaska, according to a local website.
