Reuters reported on Friday that two civilians were killed in a Turkish airstrike in the Dohuk province in northern Iraq.
According to two security sources, the civilians lost their lives in the mountainous Shiladze area of Dohuk province due to the Turkish air raid.
A security source informed Shafaq News Agency, “Two individuals were killed and another was injured due to Turkish shelling targeting the Barski village in the Shiladze area north of Dohuk.”
The source further clarified, “The three victims had left the village early this morning (Friday) to collect spring herbs on the mountain overlooking the village, where they were subjected to the bombing.”
On January 14, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced that the Turkish military conducted airstrikes in northern Iraq and northern Syria, destroying 24 Kurdish militant targets and “neutralizing” many of them.
The ministry stated that the operations were carried out in northern Syria, and in the Matina, Hakurk, Kari, Asos, and Qandil regions of northern Iraq.
