The Algerian Ministry of National Defense has reported that two terrorists surrendered to military authorities in the Bordj Badji Mokhtar region in southern Algeria last week.
In a press release on Thursday, the Ministry stated that the terrorists were armed with two Kalashnikov assault rifles, a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and other equipment.
Additionally, three individuals were arrested for providing support to terrorist groups during various operations across the national territory.
The Ministry also reported the arrest of 28 drug traffickers and the seizure of 612 kilograms of cannabis and 78,663 ecstasy pills.
In separate operations, 161 individuals were detained, and authorities confiscated a Kalashnikov assault rifle, eight hunting rifles, and thwarted attempts by 58 people to undertake illegal maritime migration using traditional boats.
Furthermore, 207 illegal migrants of different nationalities were apprehended across the country.
In May, the Algerian army units arrested 21 individuals suspected of supporting terrorist groups in various operations across the country during the first week of the current month.
The ministry revealed the destruction of 7 hideouts belonging to terrorist groups in the Batna province in eastern Algeria and the seizure of nine homemade bombs in the Boumerdes province north of the Algerian capital.
It was also noted that a terrorist, carrying an automatic pistol and a quantity of ammunition, was neutralized in an operation in the Boudj Baji Mokhtar area in southern the country.
