Poland’s Border Guard Agency announced on Wednesday the arrival of approximately 26,200 Ukrainian refugees within the past 24 hours.
This significant surge brings the total number of Ukrainians fleeing to Poland since the onset of the Russian military operation to an astonishing 15.3 million.
According to an English bulletin by “Radio Poland”, the agency further reported that about 24,200 Ukrainians have left Poland to return to their homeland. Cumulatively, a total of 13.58 million Ukrainians have made their way back to their country.
In March 2022, Poland had passed a legislation offering a comprehensive support package to the fleeing Ukrainian refugees. This law not only provides them with legal residency but also guarantees their right to education, healthcare, and social services in Poland.
The geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe, particularly between Russia and Ukraine, have led to significant displacement of civilians.
Since the beginning of the Russian military campaign, millions of Ukrainians have been compelled to seek refuge in neighboring countries, with Poland being one of the primary destinations. In response to this humanitarian crisis, Poland has taken legislative measures to ensure that these refugees have access to basic services and a sense of security in a foreign land.
