Three members of the Syrian government forces were killed, and a military vehicle was set on fire in an armed attack in the western countryside of Deir al-Zour, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights today, Monday.
The observatory stated in a press release today: “Unknown gunmen attacked the positions of the Fourth Division in the town of Al-Shamitiyah within areas controlled by regime forces and Iranian militias in the western countryside of Deir al-Zour. Armed clashes erupted between the two sides, resulting in the killing of three members of the Fourth Division and the burning of a military vehicle.”
It added that “the Fourth Division attempted yesterday to storm the river crossings that connect areas under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces with regime forces, with the aim of seizing them at the expense of national defense.”
Groups loyal to Iran almost entirely control the part of Deir al-Zour province that is under the control of regime forces.
