In a tragic incident, the Pakistani armed forces reported the loss of nine of its soldiers in a suicide bombing attack.
The attack occurred yesterday evening, Thursday, when a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle targeted a military convoy.
According to the statement released by the military, five other soldiers were injured in the attack that took place in the western part of the country, nearly 61 kilometers from the Afghan border.
The region near the rugged border has long been a safe haven for extremists with ties to Islamist groups that have fought against both the state and the Afghan Taliban.
However, the situation changed after the return of power to Kabul in 2021.
The attack serves as a stark reminder of the sacrifices made by Pakistani soldiers in their dedication to safeguarding the nation.
The Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups have recently increased attacks in the country.
This year, the violence has killed about 500 people nationwide, including civilians and security forces.
Army officials have confirmed the deaths of more than 140 soldiers since the start of 2023.
