The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported in an urgent statement that 9 people were killed in American airstrikes on a site in the Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria.
The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, issued a statement, saying that the strike was carried out by two US F-15 aircraft against a weapons storage facility used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the affiliated groups.
The statement added that US forces conducted a self-defense strike on a facility in eastern Syria, noting that the strike was in response to attacks by armed individuals associated with the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on US forces in Iraq and Syria.
On Tuesday, Iran reiterated that it had not been involved in any action or attack targeting US forces in Syria and Iraq, rejecting what it described as “claims” by the United States in this regard.
The Iranian News Agency “IRNA” reported that Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani handed over a message to Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the international organization and the President of the Security Council, stating that “all of the claims made by the United States are baseless and categorically rejected,” affirming that Iran “has never intervened in any action or attack against US military forces in Syria and Iraq.”
The agency added that Iravani’s message, dated November 7, was in response to a letter dated October 30 sent by the US Permanent Representative to the United Nations to the President of the Security Council, “which contained unproven and baseless allegations.”
