Israeli forces conducted a series of arrests across the West Bank, detaining at least 20 individuals, including children, a high school student, and former prisoners, from yesterday evening until early this Sunday morning.
According to a brief statement from the Prisoners’ Club and the Palestinian Affairs Authority, the arrests were concentrated in Hebron Governorate, with additional incidents reported in Nablus, Ramallah, Qalqilya, Jericho, and Tubas.
The operations were marked by widespread intimidation tactics, brutal beatings, threats against detainees and their families, alongside extensive property damage and destruction in civilian homes.
The statement highlighted that since October last year, the total number of arrests has risen to over 9,345.
This figure encompasses individuals detained from their homes, at military checkpoints, those coerced into surrendering under pressure, and those taken hostage.
It was further noted that Israeli authorities continue these systematic arrest campaigns as a consistent policy, which intensified significantly after October 7th, not only in terms of the sheer number of detainees but also in the severity of the crimes committed.
These actions include raids on the homes of detainees’ families, often accompanied by widespread vandalism and destruction.
The West Bank, under Israeli military occupation since 1967, frequently experiences heightened tensions and clashes between Palestinian civilians and Israeli security forces.
The ongoing arrests and detentions exacerbate existing grievances and contribute to the volatile security situation in the region.
