On Monday, the Ukrainian government announced the dismissal of all deputy defense ministers and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, as confirmed by Ukrainian Cabinet Minister Oleh Nemchinov.
Nemchinov, along with Ukrainian parliament members Taras Melnychuk and Iryna Herashchenko, revealed the list of officials who have been dismissed.
The following officials were removed from their positions:
Konstantin Vashchenko – State Secretary of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
Volodymyr Havrylov – Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Rostyslav Zamlynsky – Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Hanna Maliar – Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Denys Sharapov – Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Andriy Shevchenko – Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration Affairs.
Vitaliy Denyha – Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitization.
Earlier this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed his Defense Minister, Oleksiy Reznikov, citing the need for “new methods.”
Zelensky stated that the new defense minister, Rustam Omirgadzhi, would need to build trust in the decision-making process.
These leadership changes come in the wake of several military corruption scandals.
