In the face of the ban imposed by several European Union countries on the entry of Russian cars, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has affirmed that Russia will not let this action go unanswered.
During a press conference, Zakharova stated that the relevant departments are actively engaged in discussions to formulate an appropriate response. She emphasized that once decisions are reached, they will be promptly communicated.
Zakharova conveyed, “I can say that the actions of European countries will not pass without an appropriate response.” This hints at Russia’s intent to reciprocate in some manner to the restrictions imposed on the entry of Russian vehicles into certain EU nations.
The European Commission had earlier clarified that the sanctions applied by the European Union on Russia extend to tourist vehicles with Russian license plates. Consequently, Russian citizens are barred from entering the territory of the European Union with their own vehicles, even for tourism purposes and even for short durations.
This latest development adds to the ongoing diplomatic tensions between Russia and the European Union, with each side navigating through a complex geopolitical landscape. The responses from both parties are anticipated as the situation unfolds, potentially impacting diplomatic relations and trade dynamics.
