The American police temporarily closed all lanes on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York due to a large group of pro-Palestinian supporters heading towards it, according to the Cairo News Channel. According to CNN, the bridge, which connects Manhattan and Brooklyn, was closed in both directions as per NotifyNYC’s government service alert.
The pro-Palestinian gathering began near Barclays Center and concluded at the Brooklyn Bridge. A Palestinian-led community organization called on protesters to join them, stating, “The more they try to silence us, suppress us, and remove us from the streets, the more our numbers grow, and our voices amplify.”
The New York City administration confirmed that the protest was peaceful and didn’t witness any incidents with the demonstrators.
This New York protest was part of several demonstrations worldwide this week, including one by a Jewish group advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza in New York, resulting in the arrest of 300 individuals.
