The GCC-Iraq Electrical Interconnection Project is 30 percent completed, announced CEO of the Gulf Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) Ahmed al-Ebrahim, indicated that the project is taking place according to the specific timetable ending by 2024.
During a ceremony organized by the authority to celebrate Global Quality Week at its headquarters in Dammam on Sunday, Al-Ibrahim mentioned that the highest quality standards are being upheld in the project, choosing top-tier companies to execute it by applying rigorous quality benchmarks.
Al-Ibrahim explained that a complete quality monitoring program for the Gulf-Iraq electrical interconnection project is being overseen by a dedicated project team.
The authority is keen to connect with external systems to benefit from the surplus energy during the winter, exporting it to systems in need, targeting countries such as Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt in the near future. This cooperation involves the Saudi Electricity Company and other Gulf networks, while also seeing winter as an optimal period for routine maintenance to preserve system performance and quality.
