Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and King Mohammed VI of Morocco signed a declaration for an innovative and solid partnership aimed at developing various economic, trade, and investment cooperation areas. This agreement was made during the Moroccan King’s state visit to the UAE.
The two sides exchanged several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) at the National Palace in Abu Dhabi, covering the following areas:
A MOU for an investment partnership in high-speed rail projects in Morocco.
An agreement for investment in the water sector.
A developmental partnership memorandum.
A MOU between ADNOC and Morocco’s OCP (Office Chérifien des Phosphates).
An investment partnership in energy sector projects.
A partnership in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
A cooperative investment in the airport sector.
An investment cooperation in the port sector.
A partnership related to the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project.
A joint cooperation in the financial markets and capital market sector.
An investment partnership in tourism and real estate.
A partnership in information storage projects.
During a meeting at the National Palace, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed discussed with King Mohammed VI the historical brotherly relations between the UAE and Morocco, their enhancement, and various regional and international issues of mutual interest. The UAE President welcomed King Mohammed VI, reaffirming the strong bonds based on mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation established by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and King Hassan II.
King Mohammed VI congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed on the UAE’s 52nd Union Day, wishing further progress and prosperity for the UAE and its people. He also expressed hopes for the success of the upcoming COP28 climate change conference hosted by the UAE.
The two sides reviewed ways to develop their cooperation in various fields, particularly in economic, investment, developmental, and cultural areas. They also discussed regional and international issues, focusing on developments in Palestine and the importance of international action to achieve a two-state solution for peace and stability in the Middle East.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed stated that the agreements signed would be a significant step in enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the UAE and Morocco. Both countries, representing stability and development in the region, are committed to enhancing Arab cooperation for the development and prosperity of Arab peoples.
The two sides concluded the meeting by affirming their commitment to continuing the development of bilateral relations and expanding their scope in economic, trade, and investment cooperation, serving their mutual interests.
