The French government has announced its “serious intention” to construct a site for the conversion and enrichment of recycled uranium “in France.”
To date, Russia remains the only country in the world with a facility for converting recycled uranium intended for integration into nuclear power plants.
According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, the Ministry of Industry and Energy stated that the option of implementing an industrial project for converting recycled uranium in France is being seriously considered under the auspices of the Nuclear Policy Council.
On the other hand, the ministry confirmed that the Russian nuclear industry continues to evade international sanctions imposed after the war in Ukraine. The French ministry stated that the circumstances and measures related to this project are still under consideration.
