The Ukrainian company “TsentrEnergo” reported the total destruction of the Tripoli thermal power station in the Kiev region, following a morning attack by Russia.
According to the Ukrainian TV channel “Public,” the company stated, “As a result of the morning attack launched by Russia, the Tripoli power station in the Kiev region was destroyed.”
The company detailed that a widespread fire occurred in the turbine workshop of the facility, with emergency services currently working to extinguish the blaze. It was also confirmed that no plant workers were harmed during the incident.
Earlier on Thursday, Sergey Lebedev, the coordinator of secret operations in the Mykolaiv region, reported to “Sputnik” about an airstrike likely targeting the Tripoli thermal power station in the Kiev region.
Additionally, the Kiev Regional Administration reported damage to one of the vital infrastructure facilities.
An air raid warning was issued across Ukraine early in the morning, starting at 4:42 Moscow time, according to the electronic map data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation. The warning was lifted around 7:00 Moscow time.
The Ukrainian newspaper “Babel” reported that during the alarm, targets in the Kharkiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Volyn regions were hit.
The company “Ukrenergo” reported damage to its facilities in four regions of Ukraine and the Kiev-controlled territory of the Zaporizhzhia region.
The Ukrainian energy company “DTEK” reported significant damage to two of its thermal power plants.
The Russian military regularly targets Ukrainian infrastructure, including energy facilities, defence industry installations, military command, and communications, in response to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on civilian targets.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian presidency, emphasized that the Russian military does not target residential buildings or social facilities.
