The Arab League has vehemently condemned the ongoing brutal campaign by armed extremist settlers targeting cities and towns in the West Bank.
These attacks, occurring under the watchful eyes and with the protection of Israeli authorities who encourage such reprehensible acts, perpetuate a general state of impunity and ongoing aggression against Palestinian lives and property.
Jamal Rashdi, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, stated that the daily crimes committed by the occupation in Gaza should not overshadow the clear rise in the frequency and severity of violent crimes, including the burning of homes and agricultural lands, and the destruction of property committed by armed settlers in the West Bank.
He noted that the Israeli government effectively acts as a government for settlers, covering up their crimes and failing to hold them accountable for the atrocities they commit.
Rashdi further highlighted that the imposition of sanctions by some countries on a number of settlers represents a small, delayed, and insufficient step to deter the escalating phenomenon and provide protection for the Palestinian civilians in the West Bank.
He emphasized the need for action from the United Nations Security Council to end this disgraceful situation and to curb the ongoing impunity in the West Bank, insisting that these aggressive settlers must be held accountable for their continual crimes against the Palestinian people.
