In Tulkarm, Palestine, tensions rise as Palestinian security agencies and militant groups exchange accusations following the killing of a militant late yesterday (Wednesday), reports Reuters.
The Tulkarm Brigades and Nur Shams battalions released a joint statement alleging that collaboration and betrayal within the security apparatus targeted and fired upon mujahid Ahmed Abu al-Foul’s vehicle, resulting in his death despite attempts to resuscitate him.
They condemned the incident, likening it to operations conducted by Israeli special units. Abu al-Foul, considered a martyr by his comrades, was known for his active role in resisting the occupation in Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps.
Meanwhile, Talal Dweikat, the General Political Commissioner and spokesperson for the security establishment, stated that during routine security patrol in Tulkarm’s Peace Roundabout, an individual opened fire on the patrol.
In response, security forces engaged the assailant, injuring them before transferring them to Rafidia Hospital for treatment.
Clashes between Palestinian security forces and militants linked to Hamas and Jihad occasionally erupt in Palestinian cities. Unverified videos depict gunfire targeting a vehicle, amplifying tensions in the region.
Hamas condemned the actions of the security forces, urging accountability and a return to their duty of protecting Palestinian citizens and social harmony.
