Early on Thursday, an Israeli soldier was killed and several others were wounded by roadside bombs in Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank, according to Israeli military reports.
The soldier, identified as Cpt. Alon Sacgiu, 22, served as a sniper team commander in the Kfir Brigade’s Haruv reconnaissance unit and hailed from Hadera.
The incident occurred during an overnight raid conducted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) aimed at apprehending or neutralizing members of Hamas operating in Jenin and the adjacent refugee camp.
The explosion caused minor injuries to the soldiers inside the APC. Subsequently, as additional forces arrived to provide assistance and evacuate the wounded, another bomb detonated, resulting in the death of Cpt. Sacgiu and injuries to several other troops.
