Amid escalating fighting between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, the Israeli army revealed that 18 of its soldiers were injured, one seriously, when their position on the occupied Golan Heights was struck by a drone near the Lebanon border.
The army added in a statement that the airstrike occurred earlier yesterday, Sunday, and since then, they have targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon with airstrikes and artillery fire.
High tension
Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza, following an attack by Hamas on October 7th, Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been exchanging almost daily shelling.
The escalation has resulted in the deaths of at least 479 people in Lebanon, including 313 Hezbollah members and at least 93 civilians, according to a count by Agence France-Presse based on Hezbollah’s statements and Lebanese official sources.
However, tensions have significantly escalated amid Israeli threats to launch a broad attack on the northern front with Lebanon.
Meanwhile, the United States warned that it would not be able to stop any Israeli plans in this context, ultimately.
