The Governor of Nineveh, Najm al-Jabouri, has announced that the extent of devastation in the western districts of Mosul and the Old City stands at nearly 80%. Al-Jabouri stated that thousands of residential buildings and commercial shops remain destroyed as a result of military operations. He further added that the majority of those affected by the conflicts have not received governmental compensations, and they will likely require several years to potentially acquire the anticipated compensations.
Additionally, Al-Jabouri highlighted that the compensation provided to those affected during the military operations does not even account for a quarter of the total number of Mosul’s affected residents. This, he stated, impedes the return of displaced individuals to their respective regions.
