In a recent verbal attack, China has blamed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as the primary reason behind the escalating crisis in Ukraine, which has transformed into a full-fledged war.
Zhang Hanhei, the Chinese Ambassador to Russia, stated in an interview with the Russian news agency “TASS” that for over 30 years, NATO has been fueling tensions everywhere it operates.
The alliance has been accused of destabilizing regions and encouraging separatism, as seen in Kosovo, Libya, and Afghanistan.
Zhang pointed out that NATO’s expansion five times eastward has significantly impacted the post-Cold War order and security in Europe, making it the main cause of the conflict in Ukraine.
Despite being a remnant of the Cold War, the diplomat noted that NATO should have dissolved once the war ended, but it has continued to thrive by fueling wars and igniting conflicts.
China has consistently criticized Western powers, especially NATO, involved in the Ukrainian war.
