Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the head of the World Trade Organization (WTO), emphasized today that trade can withstand global challenges, highlighting an annual growth rate of 8% in the “services trade.”
The WTO Chief underscored that many countries have successfully explored alternative sources of trade, particularly in the face of trade restrictions with Russia.
Additionally, Okonjo-Iweala pointed out that Africa needs $190 billion every year to finance its green transformation. She confirmed a significant gap of $600 billion in agricultural support.
This call for financial backing to support Africa’s green transition comes as countries worldwide are increasingly recognizing the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation.
Meeting this financial target could pave the way for a more sustainable future for the continent and the world at large.
