Algerian Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab and German Vice Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Robert Habeck, discussed the possibilities of establishing cooperative relations through mutually beneficial partnership projects, particularly in the field of gas marketing and low-carbon technologies in the gas industry to reduce emissions.
This discussion took place during Habeck’s official visit to Algeria, accompanied by a significant delegation from the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, where he was received by Arkab at the Algerian Ministry of Energy.
Minister Arkab emphasized the importance of Algerian-German cooperation in new technologies, especially in the development of green hydrogen.
Algeria is keen to actualize this cooperation through the implementation of joint projects that benefit both parties, particularly in the field of renewable energies, hydrogen development, and the Southern Hydrogen Corridor project.
The two parties explored ways to develop, transport, and market green hydrogen, along with a program to produce 15,000 megawatts of photovoltaic solar energy by 2035.
On this occasion, both sides expressed satisfaction with the measures implemented with German partners in the energy sector, especially in new and renewable energies, through previously formed teams of experts from both countries, emphasizing the enhancement of cooperation in training, technical assistance, and capacity building.
