Mokhtar Didouche, the Algerian Minister of Tourism and Craftsmanship, announced the commencement of 800 new investment projects in the tourism sector.
Speaking at the National Forum on Enhancing Tourism Investment under the theme “Algeria: A Tourist Destination – Encouraging Investment and Improving Business Climate,” Didouche stated that Algeria’s current hotel capacity includes approximately 1,650 establishments with a total of 152,000 beds, which requires reinforcement and diversification to reach an estimated capacity of nearly 300,000 beds by 2030.
The minister highlighted the approval of over 2,200 tourism investments, including 800 projects set to provide 90,000 beds and create 45,000 job opportunities, with implementation already underway, according to the Algerian Press Service.
He further explained that the sector encompasses a real estate portfolio consisting of 249 classified tourist expansion zones, with the approval of 74 tourism development plans expected to provide approximately 1,400 real estate units.
Currently, the sector aims to make these real estate units available to investors through a digital platform managed by the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, Didouche added.
Regarding the forum held in Mostaganem, the minister noted its primary objective of familiarizing stakeholders with the facilitations and privileges outlined in the new investment law, in addition to the law on granting economic real estate, which serves as the main gateway for all investment activities.
