Several Arab nations, including Algeria, have expressed reservations about participating in the “Egyptian Peace Summit” held in Cairo.
The summit’s agenda focuses on de-escalation measures in Gaza and Palestinian territories, given the brutal and heinous Zionist aggression against innocent civilians in Gaza.
Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune received an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to attend the summit scheduled for October 21, 2023, in Cairo.
However, Algeria, based on reliable sources, has decided not to participate in this meeting.
The sources did not specify the reasons behind this decision. However, analysts link it to reports of the participation of a delegation from the Zionist entity, which continues its brutal massacres against the besieged people of Gaza, who lack water, medicine, food, and electricity due to the oppressive Israeli authorities, all under the watchful eyes of the world.
Algeria is not the only country boycotting this summit. Tunisia, an eastern neighbor, shares a similar stance.
According to the Tunisian radio station “Mozaique,” Tunisia will not participate in the Cairo Peace Summit held in the New Administrative Capital.
The Cairo Peace Summit aims to explore ways to halt the violence, address the issue of prisoners, deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians, and revive the peace process based on the two-state solution and the 1967 borders.
The striking aspect of this meeting is that it occurs while the Israeli occupation forces continue to rain down tons of rubble on innocent civilians in Gaza, especially after the horrific massacre committed by the Israeli army against children, women, and patients in the Baptist Hospital in Gaza last week, resulting in more than a thousand casualties, both dead and wounded.
It is widely expected that Algeria, along with other Arab and Islamic nations, will provide material and moral support to the Palestinian resistance in its struggle against the crimes of the occupier, which have surpassed the atrocities of the Nazis over half a century ago.
Participating in the summit, according to media reports, are 18 countries, including Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, Iraq, Mauritania, Morocco, Bahrain, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Germany, France, as well as delegations from the Zionist entity and the United States, along with representatives from Russia and China.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, who is currently on a tour in the Middle East, and Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, as well as the Secretary-General of the Arab League, are also attending.
