Ibrahim Boughali, the Speaker of Algeria’s National People’s Assembly, stated that the Palestinian people are subjected to brutal aggression amidst the indifference of globally influential countries.
He condemned the blatant bias of these nations towards the Zionist occupation, providing it with a shield that allows it to evade accountability.
Boughali emphasized that Algeria, leveraging its new role in the UN Security Council, will exert all its efforts to quickly find a resolution to the genocide and siege faced by the Palestinian people, reiterating Algeria’s steadfast foreign policy doctrine of respecting state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and supporting people’s right to self-determination.
This statement was made during Boughali’s reception of Fuat Oktay, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, and his delegation at the Assembly headquarters on Wednesday.
The meeting served as an opportunity to review various aspects of the existing bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries, aiming to realize the strategic vision for their relations set by their leaders, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.
Boughali highlighted the importance of elevating the level of parliamentary relations between the two countries, including increasing mutual visits to support the existing governmental cooperation in various fields.
Both sides also found common ground on issues of mutual interest, especially regarding the Palestinian cause, the Sahrawi issue, the situation in Libya, and the African Sahel region.
Oktay expressed that there was a consensus of opinions between the two countries, hoping it would translate into effective political practice that accelerates the resolution of the issues faced by our brothers in Palestine.
He stated that the actions of the occupying entity constituted genocide and ethnic cleansing, necessitating the urgent implementation of the UN Security Council and International Criminal Court resolutions.
The Turkish official expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries, affirming Turkey’s readiness to enhance joint coordination for the benefit of both peoples and nations.
He also called for the expansion of these relations into broader areas that match the capacities of the two countries and the commonalities between the Turkish and Algerian peoples.
Oktay acknowledged the reforms in Algeria, including in investment and industrial property laws, noting the presence of 1,500 Turkish companies operating in Algeria as evidence of Turkey’s interest in investing in the brotherly nation.
He highlighted Turkey’s aim to move beyond traditional trade exchanges to include cooperation in military manufacturing, agriculture, health, and renewable energy sectors.
