The Arab League has announced an extraordinary session set for Thursday, to be chaired by Yemen, focusing on strategies to counteract “genocidal crimes and settlement expansion.”
This urgent meeting aims to address the ongoing atrocities committed by Israel, the occupying force, against the Palestinian people over the past nine months.
The Palestinian representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, stated that the meeting will explore the Arab response to Israel’s continuous genocidal crimes and its government’s decisions designed to prevent the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Additionally, the meeting will discuss the expansion of colonial settlements and the undermining of Palestinian government authority, as well as the seizure of Palestinian funds.
UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, Tlaleng Mofokeng, has emphasized that entire communities in Gaza have been annihilated, stating that “genocide” is the only fitting term to describe the situation.
Meanwhile, Louise Wotridge, spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), previously condemned the dire conditions faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who have been under siege for nine months.
The meeting reflects a concerted effort by the Arab League to address and respond to the severe humanitarian and political crises affecting the Palestinian territories.
As the international community continues to witness the escalation of these crises, the Arab League’s discussions are critical for shaping future actions and policies.
