The meeting of the Follow-up and Implementation Committee at the level of permanent representatives to the Arab League will be held today in preparation for the Arab Summit scheduled to be held in the Bahraini capital, Manama, next Thursday.
The committee consists of representatives of the Summit Troika, which includes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the chair of the Arab League Summit in its previous session, the Kingdom of Bahrain, which will chair the new session, and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, which may have chaired the previous session.
The committee also includes the Troika of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, which includes Mauritania (the current presidency), Morocco (the previous presidency), and Yemen (the upcoming presidency).
The preparatory work also includes a meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, which represents the beginning of the political aspect of preparing for the Arab Summit, following the conclusion of the economic aspect represented by the Economic and Social Council, which met over the past two days.
It is expected that the delegate of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab League, Fouzia bint Abdullah Al Zayani, will chair the session, succeeding her Saudi counterpart.
