The Arab Parliament has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli military’s recent attack on Rafah and its control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing.
The Parliament described these actions as a severe escalation that undermines efforts to achieve a ceasefire and the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since the onset of the conflict.
In a statement, the Arab Parliament characterized the Israeli assault as effectively a death sentence for the injured and sick in Gaza, especially given the collapse of the healthcare system in the region. The control over the critical entry point for humanitarian aid adds to the dire situation, threatening the remaining relief efforts.
The Parliament highlighted that the continued aggression and the deliberate failure to reach a truce are blatant violations of international norms, laws, and resolutions, potentially leading to a new catastrophe that could result in a complete genocide and forced displacement of millions of Palestinians.
The Arab Parliament called on the international community, the United Nations Security Council, and the U.S. administration to apply unprecedented pressure on Israel to prevent further escalation and to compel it to agree to a sustainable truce and a permanent cessation of hostilities.
