During a meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, underscored the importance of advancing his country’s relationship with Iran towards normalization.
As reported by Mehr News Agency via Sputnik, King Hamad expressed that previous issues with Iran have been largely resolved, paving the way for improved bilateral relations.
He highlighted the Arab world’s unanimous agreement on the necessity of a peace conference to address Middle Eastern conflicts, with Russia being the first nation Bahrain approached for support in organizing such an event.
President Putin reflected on the current state of economic ties between Russia and Bahrain, noting that while interactions have been positive, the overall level of these relations remains minimal.
He anticipates further enhancement of these bilateral ties as both nations approach the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. The discussion also covered the recent Arab League meeting chaired by Bahrain, with Putin expressing interest in Bahrain’s perspectives on Middle Eastern issues.
