The Kingdom of Bahrain has emphasized its commitment to bolstering efforts aimed at peacefully resolving conflicts and supporting the United Nations (UN) commendable initiatives in the Middle East.
This came during a participation by Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaie, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the UN in New York, in an open Security Council discussion on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestine issue.
During his address, Al Rowaie underscored that the Palestinian issue remains the central concern in the region.
He added that it requires a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the revival of a comprehensive process and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also reiterated Bahrain’s stance advocating the need to end settlement activities in the West Bank, warning that continued escalation could have dire consequences that the current situation in the region can ill afford.
In the same vein, the representative renewed the kingdom’s denouncement of the recurring violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque through numerous intrusions, viewing them as a breach of international law and a provocation to the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.
He stressed the importance of ceasing practices that could lead to increased tension and undermine international efforts to advance the peace process.
