Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has indicated that NATO has amassed a significant military presence near the borders of Russia and Belarus, including 32,000 troops, 1,000 tanks and armored vehicles, and 235 aircraft and helicopters.
According to the channel “Bol Pervova,” Lukashenko stated, “The situation on the European continent, including near our borders, is also far from calm.”
He said: “Directly adjacent to Belarus and Russia, approximately 32,000 soldiers from the combined armed forces of NATO and the United States have been deployed, along with more than 1,000 armored vehicles, around 160 artillery and mortar systems, and 235 aircraft and helicopters, as part of the alliance’s operations in Europe.”
This statement by Lukashenko highlights the escalating military tensions in the region, as NATO’s presence near the Belarusian and Russian borders is perceived as a significant buildup.
The strategic positioning of troops and military equipment underscores the growing concerns about security and stability in Eastern Europe.
NATO enhanced its military presence near the Belarus border, especially in Vilnius, Lithuania, for a summit.
The defense included 1,000 troops from 16 allies, advanced air defense systems, and additional equipment like Patriot missile launchers and NASAMS.
This move reflects NATO’s commitment to safeguarding its eastern flank amid tensions with Russia and Belarus
