The US President has invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit Washington, the office of the Israeli Prime Minister announced on Monday evening.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s office, Netanyahu and Biden had a warm and lengthy phone conversation.
They discussed strengthening the strong alliance between their countries, curbing the threats posed by Iran and its proxies, and expanding the scope of regional peace.
They also touched on the continued efforts for calm and stability in the West Bank (the Aqaba-Sharm El Sheikh summit with the Palestinian Authority).
Netanyahu informed the US president about a law that will be passed in the Knesset next week and his intention to try to formulate a broad consensus during the summer recess regarding the rest of the process.
President Biden invited the Israeli prime minister to an upcoming meeting in the United States, and Netanyahu responded positively to the invitation.
The two sides agreed to coordinate the details of the meeting between the Israeli and American teams.
Netanyahu has not yet been received at the White House, despite winning a sixth term, which is unprecedented in Israel.
During a previous interview with CNN, Biden had declined to disclose whether an invitation would be extended to Netanyahu.
