A British police officer from West Yorkshire, PC Mohammed Adil of Bradford, has been accused of two terrorism-related charges.
These charges involve allegedly sharing images in support of Hamas, a banned organization, as per Section 13 of the Terrorism Act.
The accusations stem from messages exchanged on WhatsApp between October and November 2023. PC Adil, aged 26 and stationed in Calderdale, has been suspended by West Yorkshire Police.
He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. The Independent Office for Police Conduct instructed an investigation, conducted by Counter Terrorism Policing North East.
Upon completion, the case was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.
In previous remarks, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for an immediate cessation of the war being waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7th.
Expressing deep concern, Sunak stated that Britain is “shocked by the bloodshed” in Gaza and demanded an end to the ongoing conflict.
He emphasized the urgent need for the release of hostages and the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid into the region.
The Prime Minister affirmed that such a ceasefire must lead to a sustainable, long-term cessation of hostilities, viewing it as the most effective way to secure the release of hostages and ensure the delivery of essential aid to the region.
