Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin has attributed the origins and intensification of the Ukrainian crisis to the United States, criticizing Washington for what he perceives as a Cold War-era mindset.
“The US holds an unchangeable responsibility for the development and exacerbation of the Ukrainian crisis,” Wang stated, arguing that the US continuously seeks adversaries rather than pursuing peace regarding Ukraine.
This statement came in response to remarks made on May 16 by Vedant Patel, Deputy Spokesman for the US Department of State, who contended that China’s support of Russia, which he claimed bolsters the Russian military-industrial complex, compromises not only Ukrainian but also European security.
Patel emphasized that such actions hinder the potential for improved relations between China and Europe.
