In a bid to intensify efforts aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and preventing a wider humanitarian catastrophe, China has extended an invitation to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Chang Jun, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, made the call during a session of the UNSC, emphasizing the need to contribute to an immediate ceasefire.
He noted that the implementation of the UNSC resolution on the situation in Gaza is the “first step towards a ceasefire and de-escalation of the situation.”
Jun stressed the importance of fully implementing the resolution “to avoid a wider humanitarian catastrophe.”
Furthermore, the Chinese representative urged Israel to halt any military operations against hospitals, schools, and other civilian sites.
China’s appeal to the UNSC underscores its commitment to addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza and seeking a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, with hopes of achieving a lasting ceasefire and alleviating the humanitarian suffering in the region.
