Jordan’s Public Security Directorate (PSD) has successfully executed a high-risk operation targeting one of the country’s most dangerous drug traffickers, known for his connections with regional smugglers. The operation took place in the Ruweished Brigade, a city located in the far east of Jordan.
Colonel Amer Sartawi, the PSD spokesperson, reported that a special joint security force conducted the raid after gathering intelligence and pinpointing the suspect’s location. The suspect, upon realizing the presence of the security forces, opened fire with an automatic weapon. The security forces applied the rules of engagement, resulting in the suspect being shot in the leg. He was subsequently subdued and taken to the hospital for treatment. Two other individuals accompanying the suspect were also arrested.
The raid resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of drugs and weapons. Authorities confiscated 125 blocks of hashish, 53,000 narcotic pills, a quantity of crystal meth, and three firearms, including two automatic weapons. Investigations into the case have commenced.
The Ruweished Brigade, a critical border area, lies adjacent to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Syria, making it a strategic location for both legal and illegal cross-border activities.
