Diaa Rashwan, the head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, categorically denied the claims published in a major American newspaper, alleging that Egypt had discussed with the Israeli side its plans for the proposed invasion of Rafah.
Rashwan reiterated Egypt’s steadfast and publicly declared stance several times from the political leadership, firmly rejecting this invasion, which would lead to massacres, severe human losses, and widespread destruction.
This would add to the suffering endured by the Palestinian people in Gaza during the 200 days of the Israeli bloody aggression.
He also clarified that Egypt’s repeated warnings had reached the Israeli side through all channels since it proposed the idea of conducting a military operation in Rafah, due to the expected losses, as well as the highly negative consequences on the stability of the entire region.
Rashwan added that Egypt’s efforts since the start of the Israeli aggression have focused on reaching an agreement to cease fire and exchange prisoners and detainees.
The Arab Republic is seeking to deliver humanitarian aid to our brothers in Gaza adequately, especially in its northern regions and Gaza City, and to evacuate more of the wounded and sick for treatment outside the Strip, where almost all health services have ceased to function.
This denial comes amidst heightened tensions in the region and underscores Egypt’s commitment to stability and peace in the Middle East, as well as its efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Egypt reaffirms its support for the Palestinian cause and its determination to prevent any further escalation of violence.
