Egypt and the European Union have taken a significant step forward in their relationship by signing a Joint Declaration on their Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership. The signing ceremony, which took place in Cairo on Sunday, was attended by top officials from both sides.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi sealed the agreement at the presidential palace. Among the notable attendees were leaders from Belgium, Austria, Cyprus, Italy, and Greece, who gathered at Ittihadia Palace for the occasion.
During the ceremony, President El-Sisi and the Greek Prime Minister signed a joint declaration to establish a high-level cooperation council between Egypt and Greece, further cementing bilateral ties.
Several agreements were also signed to bolster cooperation between Egypt and Italy. These included an agreement on technical assistance programs for industrial zones focusing on furniture, leather, and marble. Additionally, efforts to promote the rights of persons with disabilities and their integration into society were underscored through another agreement signed by relevant ministries from both countries.
Further cooperation in technical education and vocational training was emphasized through an agreement signed by Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education and Italy’s Ministry of Public Education.
These agreements, signed on the sidelines of the European-Egyptian Summit, reflect the ongoing commitment of both Egypt and the EU to sustain and strengthen their cooperation.
