Tarek El Molla, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, along with Terry He, President of Huawei Global for North Africa, witnessed the signing of three cooperative agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the petroleum sector and Huawei Technologies Egypt.
A statement issued on Wednesday details the purpose of these agreements: to bolster the training of young and mid-level leaders in the oil and gas sector, contribute smart solutions, support digital transformation, and implement solar energy solutions for powering oil wellheads.
The first agreement, signed by Alaa Hagar, Deputy Minister for the Technical Office at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Jim Liu, CEO of Huawei Egypt, aims to launch cooperation between the ministry and the company.
This partnership is set to execute on-the-job training programs and enhance the skills of human resources selected through a development program for young and mid-level leaders in the petroleum and gas sector.
Furthermore, the MoUs, signed by Alaa El Batal, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, and Ding Yunjie, Vice President of Huawei’s Digital Power Business, establish a framework for collaboration.
The focus is on providing smart solutions and data centers for oil and gas facilities, as well as supplying solar power and storage batteries to energize wellheads at production sites.
These strategic alliances underscore the Arab Republic‘s commitment to modernizing its oil and gas industry through digitalization and renewable energy.
The collaboration with Huawei, a global technology leader, is expected to propel Egypt’s petroleum sector towards increased efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced staff capabilities.
