Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, received a call from his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, on Tuesday.
They discussed the ongoing Israeli/Palestinian escalation and the violent Israeli bombardment that Gaza has been subjected to in recent days, exposing hundreds of civilians’ lives to danger and threatening regional security and stability.
Shoukry expressed Egypt’s deep concern about the continuing and intensifying military confrontations, especially the widespread Israeli bombardment against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
He briefed the Iranian minister about Egypt’s efforts to deescalate the situation, achieve the desired calm, and deliver humanitarian and relief aid through the Rafah Crossing despite Israeli bombardment of areas on the Palestinian side of it.
Shoukry also warned against expanding the ongoing conflict in a way that threatens the stability of the region and the security and safety of its peoples. On his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his country’s appreciation for the efforts exerted by Egypt, especially in supporting the Palestinian cause and providing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
