Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the Amir of dKuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, have underscored the importance of respecting Libya’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, rejecting all forms of external interference in its affairs.
This affirmation came in a joint statement issued following their talks in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, which addressed bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual interest.
El-Sisi and Al-Sabah emphasized in the statement the significance of supporting Libyan national efforts within the framework of the principle of Libyan ownership for political settlement.
They commended the Libyan legislative authority for its efforts and the enactment of electoral laws, fulfilling all necessary frameworks for holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously at the earliest opportunity.
This aligns with the Political Agreement signed in Skhirat in 2015, the Libyan Constitutional Declaration and its amendments, and the references for resolving the Libyan crisis, including relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
The leaders also stressed the imperative of the withdrawal of all foreign forces, foreign fighters, and mercenaries from Libya within a specific timeframe.
They called for the dissolution of militias and the reunification of military and security institutions under a unified executive authority capable of governing all Libyan territories and representing the Libyan people as a whole.
