Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour stated that Egypt is collaborating with leading foreign universities in the field of artificial intelligence before the postgraduate stage.
This came during his speech at the plenary session of the Senate today, Sunday, chaired by Counselor Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek, to discuss the report of the Joint Committee of the Youth and Sports Committee and the offices of the Education, Scientific Research, Communications and Information Technology Committees, Energy, Environment, Labor, Industry, Trade, and Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises on the topic of “Youth and Artificial Intelligence (Opportunities and Challenges).”
Ashour pointed out that Egypt is the first in Africa in scientific research in artificial intelligence, indicating that South Africa used to precede us in the field of scientific research in artificial intelligence, but Egypt has now surpassed it.
The Minister of Higher Education continued: “We have a vision for Egypt’s future in artificial intelligence, and we compare ourselves to the largest countries in the world in the field of artificial intelligence,” noting that the projects of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology include 1202 projects in the field of scientific research, and he pointed to the adoption of artificial intelligence in supporting scientific research.
He pointed out that the Knowledge Bank is one of the institutions that support scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence, adding: “We are entering an era of using artificial intelligence, and laws and legislation must evolve to keep pace with this great technological advancement in the field of artificial intelligence.”
