Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has once again emphasized the urgency of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the cessation of Israeli hostilities.
Speaking at a press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s opposition to Israel’s plans to carry out a military operation in Palestinian Rafah, highlighting that Israel’s targeting of aid agencies in Gaza contradicts all norms and humanitarian values.
El-Sisi stressed that their discussions focused on the situation in the region, particularly the war in Gaza, urging the Dutch Prime Minister to make sincere efforts to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, de-escalate tensions, and stabilize the region.
El-Sisi pointed out that the actions of the occupying power against civilians in Gaza represent a severe violation of international law and humanitarian law.
He highlighted Egypt’s repeated warnings against Israeli plans that aim to make life in Gaza untenable.
El-Sisi emphasized that Israel’s practices pose a threat to the lives of over one and a half million displaced people, for whom Israel bears protection responsibility under international law.
Addressing the situation in the West Bank, El-Sisi remarked that the Palestinian’s life is hindered by settlers’ violence, military incursions, demolitions, evictions, land confiscation, settlement activities, and the entrenchment of the occupation.
The Egyptian President stressed that the suffering of the Palestinian people across the occupied Palestinian territories will only cease with the recognition of the State of Palestine, granting it full UN membership, and implementing the two-state solution in accordance with international references. He warned that procrastination in resolving this issue jeopardizes the stability of the region and the entire world.
On bilateral relations, El-Sisi confirmed that his discussions with the Dutch Prime Minister revealed a shared vision of Egypt’s importance as a reliable partner for the European Union and its member states in various areas of mutual interest, including combating illegal migration, terrorism, and supporting security and stability in the region to serve both Egyptian and European interests.
