President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting today with Rodolphe Saadé, the CEO of the French global shipping line “CMA CGM”. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Transport Minister Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, and Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, along with Patrice Bergamini, the Senior Vice President of the French company.
This meeting underscores Egypt’s strategic initiative to bolster its position as a key global logistics and trade center. The presence of top officials and international business leaders signifies Egypt’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructural capabilities and expanding its international trade partnerships.
The Suez Canal, a pivotal waterway in Egypt, connects the Mediterranean and Red Seas, significantly shortening maritime routes between Europe and Asia. Opened in 1869, it’s one of the world’s most heavily trafficked waterways, crucial for global trade. Egypt’s strategic location makes it a key player in international shipping and logistics.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in power since 2014, has prioritized economic development and infrastructure enhancement, including the expansion of the Suez Canal. These efforts aim to transform Egypt into a major global logistics and trade hub, boosting its economy and increasing its influence in regional and global affairs.
