In a striking display of digital rivalry, billionaire American entrepreneur Elon Musk, owner of the social media site X, has openly mocked the technical difficulties that recently hit Meta’s suite of social media platforms.
Through his official account on X, Musk shared a humorous image featuring the logos of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads—three platforms owned by Meta—accompanied by a post originally shared by a Meta employee stating, “We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues accessing our services. We’re working on it right now.”
Furthermore, Musk added another post of his own, humorously noting, “If you’re reading this, it means our servers are running.”
The outage affected all three of Meta’s social platforms, leaving millions of users worldwide unable to access their services across various continents.
Facebook managed to resume operations after an outage lasting an hour and a half, while many Instagram users continue to report problems accessing the platform.
This incident has sparked a flurry of online conversations, with Musk seizing the opportunity to highlight the reliability of his platform, X, in contrast to the temporary setbacks faced by Meta’s services.
This move by Musk not only adds to the competitive banter between tech giants but also underscores the challenges inherent in maintaining global digital platforms.
